Soundman is a secondary antagonist from Part VII: Steel Ball Run.
Story
Soundman is introduced as the first character in Steel Ball Run. He is a member of a Native American tribe who learned to read the "white man's" books. When the tribe discovers the books in his tepee, they hunt him down to scalp him. It is then that we see that Soundman has developed a special running technique that allows him to run long distances without having to rest.
Soundman appears again on the Michigan lakeline, with a stand of his own: In a Silent Way, named for the Miles Davis album of the same name. It is there that he fights with Johnny and Gyro. During the fight Gyro, is seriously wounded and believe he will die, in a last minute desperation he teaches Johnny, about the Golden Rectangle technique, with this new found ability Johnny manages to injure an overconfident Soundman, the injuries lead to his death.

Trivia
- During the showdown between him and Johnny Joestar, Soundman corrects Johnny after he incorrectly calls him Sandman. He goes on to say that the name "Sandman" was mistakenly given to him "by your [Johnny's] people." Soundman continues on to say that "Soundman" is in fact, his actual name and that his tribesmen call him "The one who creates sound" in their native tongue.
