Robert Edward O Speedwagon is a friend of the Joestars.
Part 1
Robert Edward O Speedwagon AKA just Speedwagon, is probably the most loyal friend to the Joestar family that ever lived. He first appeared as an Ogre Street thug boss, attacking Jonathan Joestar, but soon realized the young man's worthiness and dedication, becoming his good friend. He helped uncover Dio Brando's plot to poison George Joestar, and from that point onward he remained by Jonathan's side, helping in whatever way he could to defeat Dio. Speedwagon could never master the art of hamon. While Speedwagon can hold his own in a fight when he demonstrated to be able to injure Jonathan use his hat trick which has a buzz-saw hiding within it. After joining the team he sits back as he is not a hamon user and can't fight in the same league as the zombies and vampires. He does however offer words of encouragement through the entire adventure. After William Antonio Zeppeli he takes on wearing Zeppeli's hat as a remembrance of their fallen allay.
Part 2
By the 1930's Speedwagon would travel to America were he would discovered oil and formed the powerful Speedwagon Foundation by the star of the Battle Tendency his team would discovered the Pillar Men. During the discovery of the Pillar Men, Santana, Straights one of the old hamon master would betray them turning into a vampire himself, but before he did this he killed several researchers who's blood would awaken the remaining Pillar Men in the near future. Speedwagon would die of his wounds if not been rescue by Rudol von Stroheim a Nazi general conducting experiments with the Stone Mask and Santana. He would much later help Joestar family with the Speedwagon Foundation and even after his death in 1952 from a heart attack at the age 89. His influence would be felt in how his corporation continue to help the Joestar Family during the Series 2-6. His men would go on to help Jotaro destroy the remains of Dio and create the prosthetic hand for Joseph Joestar.
Trivia
- Speedwagon's original hat had buzz-saw build into it which he use to fight Jonathan during their first encounter, from their own he never uses it again.
- After Zeppeli death he takes on his hat.
- They are several similarities between him and Dio; like Dio he came from a poor family, use dirty moves and believe Jonathan to be a foolish man. However unlike Dio his heart was right and he eventually change for the better becoming a better person. Ironically enough he obtained all which Dio wanted. As by the end he discovered oil in America making him rich and becoming probably one of the most recognized persons in the world after Jonathan himself.
- He never married but Joseph believe him to have something of an attraction to Erina.
