JoJo Wiki:Manual of Style
This page will act as a basic style guide for editing and creating articles. Aside from special cases, all the requirements and rules found on this page must be followed. As such, users will need to read and familiarize themselves with the following in order to contribute to articles.
If followed correctly, this manual will act as guidelines to maintain and organize articles in a way that would harmonize the basic layout of each page and eliminate dispute between users regarding the content. The information below should not be added to or altered without proper consensus. Any questions, suggestions or complaints regarding these rules can be placed in the Talk Page.

Character Pages | Regarding Canonical Characters: Any character from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, whether it be from the manga, related one-shots, anime, light novels, or video games, may be permitted to have their own character page if they apply to the following:
Regarding Off-series Characters: Some exceptions may be made, depending on the importance of the character. If there is enough controversy, characters can be discussed in the Articles Section of the Forums or in the Discord server. |
Stand Pages | Much like the character pages, Stands may also have their own pages. However, if they are unnamed and do not have enough info, they should go in the List of Unnamed Stands page. |
Locations | Any Location may have its own page as long as it has:
Real life places do not apply, unless they differ significantly in the story. Otherwise, linking to their Wikipedia article is preferred. |
Voice Actor Pages | Voice actor pages should at least be 80-90% complete with a biography before the page is created. |

Official Language | Being an English based Wiki, all edits on articles on main pages are expected to be done in English. (The only exception being names written in the original Japanese, placed next to their English counterparts using the Nihongo Template.) This applies to forum posts, blogs or talk pages as well, though User Message Walls are allowed. If a user's second language is English and they are not apprised of correct grammar and sentence structure we can only ask that you have someone check over your edits before or after posting them. Edits that are illegible in English will unfortunately have to be deleted.
Note: To be more specific, this wiki will be using American English. This will help prevent misconception and conflict between users. |
Trivia | Trivia should be legit, interesting facts that don't belong in any other section, though are still relevant to the article. Information from Pop Culture is permitted, but fan speculation should be generally avoided. |
Talk Pages | The talk page is for conversations regarding maintenance and article correctness only. General conversations, questions and speculations are to be only placed in forums. |

Title of Works | The titles of works must be italicized if they are stand-alone works. This includes books, legal cases, movies, magazines, newspapers, albums, and plays.
If the title of the work is part of another collection of works, enclose it in quotation marks. Examples of this include articles from a news source, short stories from a book, and songs in an album. Note that a song can be a stand-alone work if it's a single. |
Capitalization | The JoJo Wiki has several words that should be capitalized in title case when used in articles. These include:
There are also specific words that pertain to the series that must be capitalized. These include:
Names and titles on the wiki are primarily in title case, like "Golden Wind" or "Josuke Higashikata." Recognized stylizations across Japanese media, such as "The JOJOLands" and "DIO," are kept as exceptions. A non-title case format requires evidence from at least three different published sources, not including logos as they are typically capitalized. However, in cases of contradiction among Japanese sources, where both the title case and stylization are used in multiple sources, the title case is the default (e.g. "Steel Ball Run" and "STEEL BALL RUN" are both used in various sources). This policy ensures consistency while respecting the unique stylizations of the series. |
Perspective | In-Universe: The synopsis/history section of all articles should be written as if they are set in the JoJo Universe. Phrases such as "In XX episode" or "In Part XX" should generally be avoided. |

Verb Tenses | By default, articles are written in present tense - these include characters who died before and during the continuity. History sections should also be in present tense as events are described along with the story.
If an event is described to have happened in the past or is shown in a flashback before the present continuity, such as a character's background before the story begins, then the section must be written in past tense. |
