Once scene shows Avdol and Iggy on the other side of a land divided by a body of water, connected by a bridge. This alludes to an ancient Japanese belief that those who have died will have to cross a river to the afterlife. This is also a belief (albeit in a modified form) shared by Egyptians.^{[citation needed]}
