Heritage for the Future ★ Pet Shop
Pet Shop appears as a playable character and was only available in the second version of the game.
If hit by Alessi's Stand attack, Pet Shop turns into an egg but still can use his Stand to make small icicles, possibly implying that Pet Shop was born with his Stand ability.
His ending on Arcade Mode portrays a hypothetical situation in which Pet Shop manages to kill all the main heroes. Pet Shop continues to act as the guardian of DIO's Mansion, as the text says "And Pet Shop never allowed anyone to come near the Mansion, anyone...".
Movelist & Gameplay
Considered as one of the best characters in the game, Pet Shop is a very unique character amongst the cast. He is typically soft-banned in most tournament settings, as a consequence of having such overwhelming advantages compared to the rest of the cast. He can move about freely in the air and use all of his moves from anywhere on the screen. The majority of his normal moves remain the same, with the exception of losing their Air-Unblockable characteristics when flying and being unable to walk-cancel moves. In addition, he has an 8-way dash that can open up into useful dashing normals.
Pet Shop's gameplay revolves around unblockable setups mainly with the help of the aforementioned Icicle Prick special. The icicles are already highly damaging on their own - creating them overhead by holding A, B or C which hit high - on account of their versatility; however, as Pet Shop has many normals that hit low, pairing the two by attacking in both directions at once strips the opponent of the ability to block properly. The icicles serve as deadzones for your opponent because Petshop can freely block or negative edge into special attacks and supers while they are charging, discouraging an opponent from standing under an icicle. This makes it possible for you to start, lengthen, or reset combos whilst maintaining solid positioning and staying safe at any range. Additionally, a knockdown triggers a catastrophic okizeme mix-up, such as generating two icicles above opponents and then using Frost Missiles Barrage on wake-up, which can then be followed up by numerous powerful combos.
