Adelheid Bernstein (アーデルハイド・バーンシュタイン, Āderuhaido Bānshutain), alternatively known as Adel (アーデル, Āderu), appears as the alternative final boss in The King of Fighters 2003. He is an unlockable playable fighter in the PlayStation 2 port.

Adelheid is voiced by Tetsuya Tanaka.

Gameplay

Adelheid is a Rushdown Character. His fighting style is very similar to his father's; however, his moves are faster and easier to chain together for combos. He has simple, extremely rewarding combos, several great command normals with many uses, massive meter gain on blockstrings, and is the fastest character in the game with a powerful Leader Super Special Move. In addition, all of his moves are significantly easier to pull off than the rest of the cast. On the other hand, his moves are significantly weaker in priority, lacks a reversal, and is highly dependent on meter.

As a boss character, he aggressively keeps the player at bay with a number of attacks, excels at cornering, and will often use his projectile, thus making the player rely heavily on defense such as blocking, evasions, and parry-based techniques.
