Summary
With Johnny's newly acquired ability of spinning his nails, L.A. is promptly defeated, severely crippling him. Johnny also notices that his legs have moved during the fight, seemingly making him jump into the air. Tim understands that they are in the Devil's Palm, which grants Johnny a Stand, and tells him and Gyro to get out of the land immediately for fear of being lost. Leaving a sobbing L.A. for dead, he angrily reveals that Gyro will never reach the finish line for a bounty has been placed on his head.
Some time later, Johnny demands that Gyro explain how he could have a bounty on his head, as he too is targeted for being associated with him. However, Gyro says nothing and remains silent for the rest of the journey.
A flashback reveals details about Gyro Zeppeli's past. Gyro Zeppeli was born in an upper-class family, his father Gregorio Zeppeli being a doctor for both the rich and the poor. Gregorio taught him the Spin, and at the age of 13, introduced Gyro to his true profession: a royal executioner. Using the Spin in conjunction with medicine, the Zeppelis have been royal executioners for 380 years, seeking to carry the death sentence in the most peaceful manner. At the age of 25, Gyro would succeed his father as an executioner until the royal court's decision of executing a young boy named Marco.
