The Stand is capable of altering the perceptions of its opponents, allowing Charming Man to transform into other people as well as the environment. This allows Charming Man to perfectly impersonate someone else using another layer of skin, which he initially uses to pretend to be [[Paco Laburantes|Paco]]. The dirt fragments can amass together in a way that screws up my perception of how far away they are.

This Stand belonging to Charming Man is featured in the ninth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, The JOJOLands. As recently as The JOJOLands Chapter 14: Hawaii State Land Registry Office, its name has not been mentioned in the course of the story or in any supplementary materials.

The Stand manifests as fragments of sand that produce illusions around the user, allowing him to disguise himself as another person or become invisible by blending into the environment in three-dimensions.

Appearance

The Stand appears as sand and rock fragments with different colors. It floats around Charming Man's face and upper torso and has a texture that feels like real, coarse sand. Charming Man's actual skin feels the same way.[1]

Abilities

Active Camouflage

Charming Man's arm appearing as if it fused with the clouds

The material that comprises the Stand allows Charming Man to perfectly disguise himself either as another person or effectively become invisible by camouflaging himself in three-dimensional space. When active the sand forms a second skin around him and when dismissed it crumbles away. The illusion is visibly perfect; when he attacks Jodio Joestar while disguised as Paco Laburantes, Jodio only discovers something is amiss when the real Paco arrives behind him.[2] The sand can also be applied to other objects, allowing him to hide weapons on his person or to make other objects appear completely different, such as when he tricks Jodio and Paco into thinking three potatoes are the decapitated heads of Wild Cat Size.[3]

When used to camouflage with the environment, the Stand perfectly replicates whatever is behind Charming Man with respect to the line of sight of those looking at him. It is so perfect that when he emerges from the camouflage it appears that he is emerging from the background, with parts of his body appearing as if they are fused with clouds in the sky,[1] akin to a cubist painting. Charming Man can selectively choose how much of his body is camouflaged in this nature, using it to attempt a sneak attack on Paco by hiding his knife-wielding arm in plain sight.[1] He can also produce illusions of other objects within the camouflage, using the ability to trick Dragona Joestar into thinking a bird stole a watch they had used the Lava Rock to steal earlier, with the illusion only breaking when Dragona physically made contact.[1]

The only tell for Charming Man's Stand ability is that the sand's texture can always be felt, either on his own body or on objects he has extended the camouflage onto; Jodio recognizes something is wrong when the group interrogates Leo and his girlfriend and he notices that their car door is covered in sand.[3]

Trivia

  • Hirohiko Araki appeared on the December 24th, 2023 episode of the NHK program Sunday Art Museum (日曜美術館) to showcase art of the Stand from the most recent chapter at the time. Araki described the Stand's ability as allowing its user to "transform into the sky", and that he was a bit influenced by the Cubism style but it wasn't intentional. He also stated that it's difficult to draw the user blending in with the clouds.[4]
