Tatsuhiko Kanaoka (金岡 建彥), better known by his pen name Falcoon (ファルコン, Farukon), is a freelance Japanese illustrator and character designer. Starting as a popular fan artist drawing art for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, he was eventually hired by SNK as one of main artists for The King of Fighters series.

Summary

Falcoon was born in Osaka, Japan on January 6, 1976.[1] After graduating from Kyoto Seika University, Falcoon started as a fan artist doing renditions various fighting game series, such as The King of Fighters, Tekken, Guilty Gear Street Fighter, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.[2][3] Despite having gone to art college, most of his skills were self-taught.[4] Falcoon's fan art garnered a large enough following that SNK eventually took notice and hired him as a card designer for SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash in 1998.[4] His designs are influenced by the clothing found in Japanese street fashion, mainly Lolita and Fruits fashion. During an interview, he mentioned that he uses no reference for his work, instead relying only on "strong images from memory".

In 2003, Falcoon was asked to work as an illustrator for SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos, and was later responsible creating the character artwork for The King of Fighters 2003. In 2004, he also worked as the producer, art director, and character designer for the KOF: Maximum Impact series, however, would leave SNK Playmore sometime after the series was cancelled for undisclosed reasons. In 2017, he returned to SNK after the company was rebranded.
