Ivrea is a publishing house of Argentina origin that specializes in the publication of manga and comics. With more than 2500 books published, it is one of the most prolific publishers in the Spanish language. It has offices in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Barcelona (Spain) and Helsinki (Finland).


History

In 1997, Editorial Ivrea was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the brainchild of Leandro Oberto and Pablo Ruiz, with the intention of developing the Argentine comics market, by then dependent on foreign editions and without important local publishers. Among its first editions there were a large number of American comics that did not have much importance, but it was a magazine of information on Japanese cartoons, Lazer magazine, produced in-house, that achieved success.1

In 1999, the enormous boom of Lazer magazine led the company to venture into the publication of various Manga, including Dragon Ball, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bleach, Gantz, Vagabond, Saint Seiya, Rurouni Kenshin, Sailor Moon, Fullmetal Alchemist, Tokyo Ghoul and many more, being at the forefront of manga publishing in Argentina and among the top three in Spain. In 2001 Ivrea opens the Spanish subsidiary, with offices in Barcelona. In 2005 Pablo Ruiz dies. In 2007 they enter the Finnish market, setting up in Helsinki, where they also publish manga. Publications differ from country to country due to the availability of rights and the tastes of each particular region.

It has an important legacy and impact in the distribution of manga legally for Argentina and the rest of Latin America, being the number one in the manga translation competition in the region. The publishing house is also well known for implementing Argentinean idioms in its translations of publications.

The Argentine subsidiary published comics by Argentine authors, first in Ultra magazine, including 4 segundos and Anita: la Hija del Verdugo, and years later, in an attempt to reactivate the Argentine comics industry, the works of different authors such as Salvador Sanz with Legión and Nocturno, and Andrea Jen with El delirio de Ani.23

After several insistences to Shueisha, I accept that JoJo's was published in Spain in 2017, taking in base the Bunko edition, From ivrea they enlarged the format to be a 6B and appreciate better the work of Araki, From Phantom Blood to Steel Ball Run,Baoh the Visitor and Cool Shock B.T. and They Used this format for their "Deluxe" edition, But From [[{JoJolion]], they would use the Japanese tankobon edition enlarging it to 6B. As well as Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan Then in 2018 Shueisha would Approve its publication in Argentina, Currently being In the middle of Stone Ocean
