The Egypt 9 Glory Gods (エジプト9栄神, Ejiputo Kyū Ei Shin) are a group of nine Stands featured in the second half of the third part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Stardust Crusaders. Alongside their various users, they function as an elite faction of DIO's army.[1]

Podsumowanie

The Egypt 9 Glory Gods represent the nine members of the Ennead. Notably, the group is host to various irregularities in the traditional rules behind Stands: the members of the Egypt 9 Glory Gods include a pair of twin Stands with near-identical abilities, a Stand wielded by a falcon, a formless Stand that changes its user's appearance, and even a userless Stand bound to an ancient sword. After the Joestar Group reaches Egypt, the nine Stands and their current wielders assemble at DIO's mansion, where DIO commands them to kill the group before they can reach him. The members then scatter across Egypt to lie in wait for the heroes.

Geb and its user, N'Doul, are the first to attack the Joestars within the desert. Geb wounds Kakyoin's eyes, but is ultimately defeated by Jotaro and Iggy.[2] Later, in Aswan, Oingo and Boingo attempt to assassinate the group with Khnum and Tohth, but fail each time, with Oingo eventually being hospitalized by his own weapon.[3] As the heroes cross the Nile, Anubis possesses a boy named Chaka and confronts Polnareff at Kom Ombo Temple, tricking Polnareff into taking the Stand with him. Anubis later manages to possess Polnareff in Edfu, only to be defeated by Jotaro. When its last-ditch attack fails, Anubis finds itself condemned to rust away at the bottom of a river.[4]

In Luxor, Bastet and its wielder Mariah battle Joseph Joestar and Muhammad Avdol,[5] while Sethan and its user Alessi fight Polnareff and Jotaro.[6] Both are defeated by their own abilities, however, as Mariah is crushed between two cars and Alessi is pummeled by a young Jotaro. The Joestar group attempts to gain information in Gizeh, only to run across Osiris's wielder, Daniel J. D'Arby. After tricking Polnareff into giving up his soul and outsmarting Joseph, D'Arby is challenged by Jotaro to a game of poker, in which the latter mentally overwhelms D'Arby with an all-or-nothing bluff.[7] Meanwhile, Hol Horse kidnaps Boingo and takes him to Cairo, where the two lie in wait for the Joestar group. Though things appear to be looking up for the new duo at first, a mistimed attack from Hol Horse turns against its own user, incapacitating him. For his part, Boingo decides to give up using his Stand for evil and turn over a new leaf, only to be mauled by Iggy.[8]

Later, the falcon Pet Shop, wielder of Horus, is confronted by Iggy while attempting to kill a trespassing child. The falcon pursues Iggy underground and severely wounds him, but the dog eventually succeeds in killing the falcon with its own attack.[9] Iggy then leads the Joestar group to the mansion, where the final Glory God, Atum, and its user, Telence T. D'Arby, reveal themselves. Taking advantage of Kenny G.'s Tenore Sax, a Stand unaffiliated with the Glory Gods, the younger D'Arby brother separates Jotaro, Joseph, and Kakyoin from the others by dragging them into the basement. D'Arby wins against Kakyoin in the game F-Mega and steals his soul, but is ultimately defeated by Jotaro and Joseph when they cheat their way to victory in Oh! That's A Baseball!.[10]

Tworzenie i rozwój

As Hirohiko Araki drew the Egypt 9 Glory Gods and their users, he placed more importance on the story and tricks than the designs.[12]

Atum's card was the only one to not be present in the manga or anime. However, it was included in Adventure Battle Card and the Stardust Crusaders OVA 2007 box set, despite Telence T. D'Arby not appearing in the OVA.

Khnum's card is shown normally in the anime but also received an original design on Oingo's shirt. None of the other cards received a similar original design.

Ciekawostki

  • The Ennead, the inspiration for the Egypt 9 Glory Gods, traditionally consists of the gods Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Geb, Nut, Osiris, Isis, Set, and Nephthys, occasionally including Horus. Of the Glory Gods, only five stem from the Ennead itself, with Khnum, Thoth, Anubis, and Bastet being taken from other ranks of the Egyptian pantheon.
  • In JoJo's Venture and its revisions, the Egypt 9 Glory Gods' cards can be seen in battle title cards and the PlayStation version's Tarot Card Reading mini-game. Notably, all of the cards are reformatted to match the vertical orientation of the tarot cards; this includes the cards of Osiris, Bastet, Sethan and Anubis, which are oriented horizontally in the original manga.
