The Battle on Ogre Street (The Stone Mask - Part 1 in the JoJonium release) is the eighth chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga. It is also the eighth chapter of Part I: Phantom Blood.

Summary

Jonathan goes to his father, and tells him that he will be going to London for two or three days. Jojo asks him to allow the doctors he brought to take care of him, and only accept treatment from them. George accepts Jojo's conditions saying that he is sure that Jonathan has a good reason to make these requests. As Jonathan leaves for London he realizes that if his father has been poisoned there is a high chance that he will need an antidote; he promises to himself that he will protect his father. Meanwhile, in the Joestar Mansion, Dio breaks into Jonathan's desk and reads the notes that Jonathan had written about his research on the Stone Mask. He has decided to kill Jonathan using the mask to pierce his brain as it is diagrammed in Jojo's notes. The wounds would not be from a weapon that could be traced back to Dio, and it would appear to be an accident based in Jonathan's own research leaving out of any suspicions.

In London, the carriage that is carrying Jonathan stops, and the driver refuses to go any further as they have entered a particularly dangerous section of the city. Jonathan decides to continue on alone, ignoring the driver's advice, and says that even if it costs him his right hand he will complete what he came to do. After hearing that Jonathan is in Ogre Street, Dio decides that Jonathan is either dying or dead, and he won't have to kill him after all.

Jonathan sees the danger of Ogre Street when he sees a cat eating a puppy. Shortly after that three men attack him, intending to kill him, one of which happens to be his future ally Robert Edward O. Speedwagon. Jonathan, determined, risks injury to himself by by grabbing the blade of one attacker. Another of the three, a Chinese man, attacks Jonathan. However Jonathan's efforts earn the admiration of Speedwagon and his companions, and the aforementioned kempo master and he tells Jonathan the location of the oriental poison store.
