Chapter 74
Summary
Caesar pulls out a pen and slowly inserts it into oil barrier; the pen gets cut clean in half, proving the high pressure of the oil flowing out of the pillar. 52 hours have passed and Caesar is forced to try and pierce through the jet. Caesar is able to apply an attaching ripple to keep his feet on the surface, but at the same time a repelling ripple on the body parts touching the pressurized oil. By controlling these two opposite ripples, Caesar is able to slide through the jet and onto the other side with a loss of breath.
9 hours later, Caesar is able to reach the top of the pillar, despite Joseph still stuck at the oil jets. Caesar asks for Lisa Lisa to stop the oil, realizing that with Joseph's personality and lack of training, Joseph would presumably jump the barrier and get himself cut in half. Joseph decides to take the leap, but instead of going through the oil barrier, he uses it as a slide, and glides across the surface. 10 seconds later, Joseph is clinging onto the outer wall on one hand. Lisa Lisa appears and explained that by sliding on the oil to the other edge, he was able to jump above it where the pressure was least powerful.
Joseph still clinging to the outer wall begins to lose breath due to not being accustomed to his breathing mask yet. His ripple disrupts, causing him to fall, but luckily Caesar grabs him in the nick of time. After 61 hours and 9 minutes, Joseph and Caesar had both reached the top of the pillar and finished the first part of their training.
