Into Oblivion (Fire and Ice, Jonathan and Dio - Part 6 in the JoJonium release) is the forty-fourth chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga. It is also the forty-fourth and final chapter of Part I: Phantom Blood.

Summary

Knowing that the both of them will die on the sinking ship, Erina shares one last passionate kiss with her husband Jonathan. However, as she finishes, Jonathan points to a baby nearby whose mother had been killed by the zombies, and tells Erina to live on. Erina objects, but Jonathan tells her that he is asking her to do it because his own mother died in the same way as this unknown woman: protecting her child.

Dio's head clings to a pipe overhead by his hair. He commands the other zombies to devour Wang Chan's body in an attempt to prevent the explosion; however, before they can even begin to, the engine starts to explode.

Dio extends the blood vessels in his neck to take hold of Jonathan's neck so he can rip off his head, planning to put his own head on Jonathan's body and then get back into his coffin, built to withstand any explosion and form of heat.

As Dio goes to rip off Jonathan's head, Jonathan stabs Dio's head with a piece of shrapnel, and holds his head to his chest, saying that he feels a bizarre friendship between them, and he plans for them both to disappear with the ship's explosion. He then speaks his last words to Erina, telling her to be happy. Dio attempts to bargain with Jonathan, offering to give him his powers, but Jonathan is already dead. The ship explodes.

Later, in the middle of the ocean, Erina and the baby she rescued have survived the ship's explosion by climbing into Dio's coffin just as it occurred. Eventually the two wash up on the Canary Isles and find their way back to civilization.
