Yoshikage Kira is a mysterious figure introduced in Part VIII: Jojolion and the SBR counter-part of Jotaro Kujo and the original Yoshikage Kira in Part IV.

Appearance/Personality

Kira from the Steel Ball Run universe is a fairly tall individual with black hair who wears a sailors attire. According to Ojirou Sasame, he has a very beautiful pair of hands, even having sculptures in their form at his house. This Kira also bears the distinctive wavy lock of hair that hangs from the original Kira's head, though his black hair gives him a resemblance to Jotaro Kujo as well.

Kira also spoke in a rather confusing and insulting manner, wondering whether surfers were people of the sea or people of the land, and insulted Sasame by berating this uncertainty. Kira is also implied to be sadistic, or obsessive and compulsive, by subsequently manipulating a drunk Sasame into eating the fingers of his own hands.

From what could be observed from Kira's apartment, he seems to like green items or foods, since entire cupboards in the apartment are shown to be filled with green peas and wasabi. Like the original Kira, he is also obsessed with the lengths of his fingernails and with the human hand. Shelves of labeled containers of his fingernails could be seen in his bathroom, while a wall in his living room has a portrait of the Mona Lisa and a sculpted model of his own hand. The sculpture implies that Kira was vain of his hands.

Synopsis

Kira was a marine surgeon who was once acquainted with Ojirou Sasame a long time ago. He questions Sasame on whether surfers are people of the sea or people of the land, and soon after, convinces him to eat all the fingers on his hands in a drunken stupor.

At some point after his encounter with Sasame, Kira apparently met another person and was buried together under Morioh with that person. A Wall Eye sprung up around the area and the JoJolion Protagonist emerged, with parts of Kira's body and mind fused to his own.

Kira is later found dead near the wall eyes where the protagonist was found, apparently having died from cardiac arrest.[4] The protagonist and Yasuho subsequently attempt to investigate Kira, especially due to his connections to the Higashikata family.

Stand

Kira once had a stand similar to Killer Queen. While the appearance of the stand resembles Killer Queen, its ability was to create bubbles similar to the protagonist's that exploded when they touched something. Part of the stand was fused to the protagonist's when the two were buried under the soil of Morioh, the result being Soft & Wet.[5]

Trivia

  • In Chapter 3, when the protagonist and Yasuho Hirose visit his apartment, other references to the original villain can be found, such as bottles of nail clippings and a portrait of the Mona Lisa.[6]
  • Kira's address is listed as 258 Morioh Township, Apartment 204.[7]
  • Where the protagonist is said to have four testicles, Kira in JoJolion had none. This is explained later on when it is revealed that the protagonist is actually a fusion of Kira and another person.[8]
