Forum - Stone Ocean Anime Discussion Thread

My thoughts on the anime is that, although it doesn't beat Golden Wind as my favorite JoJo adaptation at the moment, it's pretty consistent & quality-animated at its best but wonky at its worst (at the moment. Will probably change in Blu-Rays). Nothing beats GW's overall mood and theme for me but I'll give DP kudos for adapting a part that centers around mostly one setting for the first half of the story.

I personally didn't mind the CG. For the most part, Manhattan Transfer's CG was the most well-done model out of them. I love the voice acting for this season and might be my most favorite based on the voice talents compared to previous seasons.

My least favorite part about it is probably how some of the pacing is very inconsistent and varies every time. The Goo Goo Dolls, Ermes' Sticker, and F.F. arcs felt way longer to me in the manga, but they surprisingly only take up a single episode or two. It's clear that they wanted to focus more on Jolyne's relationship with Jotaro because their battle against Johngalli takes up three episodes - and Jotaro is almost ALWAYS mentioned in every episode in contrast to the manga - but not that I mind it though, since Jolyne's drive was based on her wanting to save Jotaro.

Otherwise, I still like it, and possibly might be in my top 3 adaptations. Can't wait for Anasui.

It really brings the feeling of the manga over very well. And especially Yugo Kanno nailed the feeling with the soundtrack like the callback to DIO's theme during the Manhattan Transfer fight. And they absolutley made DIO look perfect in the Flashback.

I've adored it so far. Lang Wrangler being so jarringly CG is my only real complaint, but even then, I understand it, given how the freak moves around.

I really enjoyed the performance by Gwess' voice actress. Really nailed how much of a goddamn lunatic she is.

I actually think stone ocean is a great storyline since it dosen't present things like other anime/manga which mostly the protagonist will win, but SO is just straight up uni reset

I really enjoyed the Stone Ocean anime, but at first, I did not like the new opening at all. Don't know if it was just me, but I grew to love it. As you can tell from my username, I absolutely LOVE Pucci and his whole style and air and atmosphere, and how he progresses throughout the story to achieve "heaven". I know someone else has said this, but I really appreciate that the ending is not a "good guys always win in the end" situation, but basically the complete opposite. Overall, I think the Stone Ocean anime adaptation was pretty solid, even though it can't top my favorite, Golden Wind.

the first opening just slaps! it's so catchy and I sing it a lot.

the second opening, I cried the first time i heard it, its so sad! and i sing that one a lot as well.
